Top Tips

1) Royal mess

Kensington Palace has thrown gasoline on the firestorm surrounding Princess Kate's health.

  • What happened: The palace released a photo of Kate and her children on Sunday, claiming Prince William recently took it. The Associated Press, Reuters and other news agencies published it, only to retract it after concluding it was manipulated. The AP reported it found inconsistencies with the alignment of Princess Charlotte's left hand.

  • Catch up: Kate has not been seen in public since Christmas Eve. She had an unspecified abdominal surgery on Jan. 16 and spent two weeks in the hospital. The palace said she did not have cancer and would return to royal duties no later than Easter, but information has been scarce since.

  • Big picture: The palace media office is closed on weekends and did not immediately respond to the retractions. But whatever is said will likely do little to quell the growing conspiracy theories and scrutiny amid Prince Charles' cancer diagnosis and the never-ending Prince Harry drama.

2) Papal pushback

The Vatican is doing damage control after Pope Francis appeared to suggest Ukraine should surrender to Russia.

  • What happened: The pontiff said, "I believe that the stronger one is the one who sees the situation, who thinks of the people, who has the courage of the white flag, to negotiate." The comments surfaced in a partial transcript of an upcoming interview with a Swiss broadcast outlet.

  • The response: The Ukrainians protested the comments; Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba insisted the nation would not capitulate and referenced alleged Vatican inaction during World War II. Other European leaders denounced the Pope's comments.

  • The backtrack: Holy See spokesman Matteo Bruni said interviewer Lorenzo Buccella first used "white flag" language in the exchange. The Vatican said the Pope believes negotiations are not a surrender and advocates for a peaceful end to hostilities.

3) Starry night

It was Oppenheimer's evening at the 96th Academy Awards.

  • Top honorOppenheimer won Best Picture, while Christopher Nolan was named Best Director. The film won seven Oscars in total to top Poor Things' four.

  • Acting awards: Cillian Murphy won Best Actor for his work in Oppenheimer. Emma Stone won her second Oscar for Best Actress in Poor Things. Oppenheimer's Robert Downey Jr. and The Holdovers' Da'Vine Joy Randolph won the Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards.

  • Other notesThe Zone of Interest won best international feature, while 20 Days in Mariupol won for best documentary. Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash made a surprise appearance for Ryan Gosling's performance of I'm Just Ken and host Jimmy Kimmel cracked a joke about former President Donald Trump's critique of his performance.

More salt, not less

Healthy hydration isn’t just about drinking water. It’s about water AND electrolytes.

It makes sense. Remember, you lose both water and sodium when you sweat. Both need to be replaced to prevent muscle cramps, headaches, and energy dips.

But most people only replace the water. Why? Because since the 1940s, we’ve been told to drink 8 glasses of water per day, thirsty or not.

Drinking beyond thirst is a bad idea. It dilutes blood electrolyte levels (especially sodium levels), which leads to headaches, low energy, cramps, confusion, or worse.

The solution isn’t to stop drinking water, though. It’s to drink water plus electrolytes.

Enter LMNT.

Created by former research biochemist Robb Wolf and ketogains founder Luis Villaseñor, LMNT has enough sodium, potassium, and magnesium to get you feeling and performing your best. Plus it has ZERO sugar, artificial colors, or other dodgy ingredients to hold you back.
